San Luis Obispo is located halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, in the heart of the Central Coast. Most Central Coast residents call the city “SLO,” “San Luis,” or “SLO town,” which are all short for San Luis Obispo. Referred to as “the happiest city in America” by Oprah, San Luis Obispo boasts a large number of college students, which account for roughly one third of the population. The student population also makes it a great place for investing in rental properties.
